12 Moments in Anime ‘09: No.12 – Making Love to the Deceased

Hooray for last minute decisions. After much contemplation, I finally decided to give in to CCY’s call to a collaborative project, ‘12 Moments in Anime.’ The procedure’s quite straightforward, really – simply recall the twelve favorite moments in anime you’ve experienced this year.

This will be my first time participating so I really have no basis on what twelve moments to choose. Combine that with my tendency to be easily flabbergasted by almost everything I watch, the relatively simple task becomes anything but. However, after seeing a couple of examples from neighboring bloggers across the sphere, I think I have a good idea on what bounds to write…I think….

Here we have Hakkō from the series that aired just last summer, Canaan. You see, at first glance, Hakkō’s not something people might want to remember, let alone put on their most-memorables. I mean sure, she has the looks, the physique and all that jazz. And before “that” happened, people would probably would

associate Hakkō with her self-imposed muteness.

Of course,we then find out later that this is just a prelude to her most outrageous and bold act yet, as well as the very reason why she is in this list. You see, we people tend to use empty clichés such as ‘eternal love’ or even ‘unconditional love’ without taking into much consideration the true essence of the phrase. Hakkō on the other hand, not only succeeds in discerning the true meaning but also takes it a bit further; and she does this by…

MAKING LOVE TO THE DEAD HER DEPARTED LOVER

Surely there’s no greater love than this…at least not in this particular nature of love anyway. As for as how memorable of a moment this is, I too have learned a valuable lesson – none of which Rated R movies or even TVMA shows can teach me…all at the cost of me burning my lips. I was sipping hot tea when I was suddenly struck with awe from what I’m seeing from Cannan. Those were the memories alright…
