This episode is downright amusing! It’s probably because I can relate to Yui’s first reactions upon obtaining a guitar…especially that unspoken rule called the “NEVER UNPLUG AN ELECTRIC GUITAR FROM THE AMP WHILE THE GUITAR IS ON” rule. I can pretty much say the same for Ritsu’s preference of drums over bass, guitars, or keyboard – there’s going to be an instance where you find your fingers seemingly twisted from playing those instruments. Ahhhh….the noobish memories.

That aside, this episode kind of lets us know a little bit more about the band members. We find out (actually, more like confirm) that Tsumugi comes from a very rich family and eventually play as the band’s source of funds; which of course is no surprise…for two reasons. First, if you look at bands or anything pertaining to them, you’ll find out that there has to be someone sponsoring them; and since these girls are in a makeshift band, there is an imminent need for a makeshift sponsor…meaning it had to be one of the band members. Second, I kind of caught some clues from the first episode – the fact that Tsumugi is a bit classy than normal brought me to conclude the she must have come from a wealthy background. I was right ^_^.

In that same regard, we find out that Mio, whom I thought to be the most mature and resilient of the four, actually has a latent vulnerable side whose moeness is killing me oh so softly bit by bit. That was a surprise…really. I think my Mio respect just rose up a level. Don’t get me wrong; I still adore all four of them equally!

The same can be said about the other two. Yui is supposedly the older sister to a younger one, which I had a hard time believing. You can pretty much blame this on her childish appearance and the fact that K-ON constantly refers to her childish past; not that I have a problem with that. Ritsu of course is still the one with wandering mind. I laughed on the part where she treated the tally counters as some sort of metronome, which eventually dragged Mio along as they were counting cars.

I can’t shake off how much time was wasted on getting the guitar which could have been settled in 5 minutes.
